I remember coming across Scale of the Universe and being impressed by it.
Is there something similar for financial information? If not, why not? There are so many similar and interesting questions:
- How does the wealth of Elon Musk compare to Li Ka-shing (or Sam Altman)?
- Which number is bigger, the market capitalisation of Apple or the annual tax takings of the US government?
This is the kind of thing that is now hard to Google for, but ChatGPT and Perplexity come to the rescue:
- Wealth Shown to Scale
- All of the World’s Money in One Visualisation
- Scale of money (stacks of $100 bills in realistic size)
- printing money
- (Behind paywall) Telegraph How Rich Am I
- How much wealth do the world’s richest billionaires have?
- Visualizing the $105 Trillion World Economy in One Chart
- Globe of Economic Complexity
- Interactive calculators at an investment platform
(Note one of these game/informatics is actually called “Scale of money” from someone with 1.3k Github stars; but it still doesn’t feature on Google front page!)
None of these fit exactly what I had in mind, but there is so much to explore I probably won’t need to make my own!
